Steve scowled deeply at the comment. Honestly, he didn't know where religion fit in to his life now. Being like this... he just didn't know. There was a reason for it but hell if he could figure out the plan. Didn't mean he appreciated the mocking of his beliefs.

"I'm not technically alive," he replied sharply. It was kind of a sore point. "My heart beats two or three times a minute. It's only to keep my blood from congealing. I don't need to breathe. I don't have organs that will shut down."

The serum part though, he could agree with and he added, "Even SHIELD wouldn't go that far. There was no guarantee a vampire would hold to any kind of contract. It's impossible to tell if someone will be able to handle the change."
